Mark Hayes has published more than 100 papers and articles on all aspects of spring technology. He was IST's manager of the very successful "Techspring" research project, and he was the author of most of the papers that can accessed via the last website link above. Many of his other published papers may be accessed via the following links - these papers are the text supplied for publication by IST and are all in the public domain. The Cautionary Tales were published in SMI's "Springs" magazine, and the WFTI articles were pubished in "Wire Forming Technology International":Mark also contributed the chapter on the fatigue of springs in Metals Handbook Vol 19, and the chapter on springs in Ferrous Wire Handbook published by WAI.

  News
It is understood that progress with revision and correction of EN13906 - 1, - 2 and 3 has stalled, but a new European standard for extension spring tolerances will be available in the not-too-distant future. Spring Expert welcomes this, but EN 13906-2 should be revised first because it has more mistakes than any other specification in the history of standardisation

News
Spring Expert has successfully delivered 10 courses in the last twelve months covering spring materials, manufacture, design and failure and prevention.

News
Mark visited Wire 2016 in Düsseldorf from 4th - 6th April, and was very pleased to have met very many friends from the spring industry. He visited JSSE's conference in Tokyo in Nov. 2015, and presented a paper, which is available on request.
There are several new articles on this page added during 2014/5. More will be uploaded in 2017.
